Understanding Water Use Efficiency (WUE)
\n
Water Use Efficiency (WUE) is a measure of how efficiently plants use water to produce biomass or yield. It is calculated by dividing the crop yield by the amount of water consumed by the crop. A higher WUE indicates that the crop is producing more yield for every liter of water used.
\n\n
Formula
\n
WUE = Crop Yield / Water Used

Practical Examples
\n\n
Example 1: Wheat Farm
\n
A farmer grows wheat and obtains a yield of 5000 kg from 10000 liters of water. The WUE is:
\n
WUE = 5000 kg / 10000 L = 0.5 kg/L
\n\n
Example 2: Potato Farm
\n
Another farmer grows potatoes and obtains a yield of 20000 kg from 40000 liters of water. The WUE is:
\n
WUE = 20000 kg / 40000 L = 0.5 kg/L
